What is your opinion about talking politics on table when dinner is being served ?

last Christmas , my friend was invited to another friend’s house , he started talking politics with his friend , me and his friend’s wife were absolutely disturbed , did this ever happen to you ? do you think we shouldn’t discuss politics on table ?I would also like to know your reasons , Thank you and have a nice day .
